How therapy works

Therapy is a collaborative process between client and therapist.

Therapy is a collaborative process where we will work together to set goals that facilitate personal growth, change, and acceptance. While we may explore your past to better understand the sources of your current difficulties, the focus is always on empowering you to move forward.

Therapy is tailored to your unique needs, recognizing that each individual brings their own experiences and challenges. Whether you are seeking brief, solution-focused work or prefer a longer-term approach, the process is designed to adapt to what works best for you.

For some clients, learning strategies to address a specific issue is the primary focus. For others, therapy may involve a deeper exploration of the origins of their difficulties and learning how to support themselves in making the journey from where they are to where they want to be.

Therapy Process / Consultations:

Before starting the therapy process, we can have a free 15-minute phone consultation. This will give us a chance to briefly discuss your difficulties, explore how we might work together, and help you determine if you feel comfortable working with me.

Following this, we can arrange an in-depth session to explore your needs more thoroughly and create a treatment plan tailored specifically for you. This session will also help confirm whether we are a good fit for working together on a personal level.

I am bilingual and offer services in both English and Portuguese to accommodate your language preferences.

Challenging times

During prolonged challenging times, many people experience difficulties such as anxiety, stress, depression, relationship issues, conflict, anger, confusion, isolation, loss of income, or bereavement.

In these situations, the support of a psychologist can be invaluable in helping you manage overwhelming emotions and navigate through the distress. Together, we can explore the best ways to reduce your stress and support you in finding relief and clarity

Please do not hesitate to call or email me if you are struggling so we can arrange an initial consultation.
