Training, qualifications and experience
I trained as a psychologist at the University of Coimbra, one of the leading universities in Portugal. Afterward, I furthered my training in London, where I obtained a qualification in counselling, followed by a Master's in Counselling Psychology, and later completed a Postgraduate Degree in Counselling Psychology at City University London.
Building on this foundation, I achieved a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, focusing on relationships, attachment, and sexuality. Throughout these years of training and education, I have consistently seen clients, gaining valuable experience in helping individuals navigate their challenges.
I have worked for several years in:
- The NHS
- primary care mental health services, hospital and GP based
- Voluntary sector - counselling services
- Private practice
My main training approaches are:
- Psychodynamic therapy and more recently DIT (Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy)
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy),
- Person-Centred therapy,
- SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy)
Registrations and memberships:
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Counselling and am a chartered member of the British Psychological Society.
